Our Story
About the Pilgrimage
A penitential walk through the North Texas plains — 33 miles of sacrifice, community, and faith.
Why We Walk
33 Miles to Palm Sunday is a Catholic penitential pilgrimage through the rolling plains of North Texas. Beginning at the Red River and ending at Sacred Heart Church in Muenster, the walk covers 33 miles — one for each year of Christ's earthly life. It is not a race, a fitness challenge, or a fundraiser. It is an act of faith.
Pilgrims walk through the night and into Palm Sunday morning, arriving at Mass having offered their bodies and their fatigue as a prayer. The road is the prayer.
For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps.1 Peter 2:21
Sacrifice
The pilgrimage asks something real of you. Tired legs, cold nights, and blistered feet are not obstacles — they are the offering.
Community
You will not walk alone. Strangers become brothers and sisters on the road. The shared suffering creates bonds that last long after the walk ends.
Devotion
Every step is a prayer. The pilgrimage is not about finishing — it is about who you become on the way to the finish.
